How to Make Bias Tape
Yesterday I finally decided it was time to learn to make bias tape. I'd already purchased two different sizes of bias tape maker hand tools, read through a couple of great tutorials online and got busy. Here's the technique I used from Prudent Baby and a peek at my progress....
1/2 yard of fabric yielded 11 1/3 yards of custom bias tape! Can you see the potential savings here? I can think of all sorts of simple sewing projects that would benefit from handmade bias tape.
I just recently got the bias tape binding ruler which made marking my lines a breeze. June Tailor 2-1/4-Inch Binding Buddy Ruler
The bias tape maker machine by Simplicity.....it's next on my wish list. :)
I don't know what took me so long to try making bias tape, but I can guarantee I'll be making 98% of my bias tape from now on. Give it a try! :)

Lovely! What are you going to use this bias tape for, Pam?
ReplyDeleteThanks Peg! This bias tape is being used on a prototype project for the local Humane society which I hope to blog about later. :)
