A new kind of search engine....

By accident, I discovered this gem of a search engine. Kind of like the little engine that could, but I think this one is gonna be big. Check it out and sign up for a personalized twist on searching the net.

Locate a Charity Thrift Shop Wherever You Are!

If you've never tried shopping at thrift shops, you don't know what you're missing. Flea markets and antique malls are out there too, but if you want to support a local charity while out shopping, it's easy to find a charity thrift shop in your area. Check out this website......The Thrift Shopper, and they'll point you in the right direction.

DIY Test Tube Treats!

Test tube treat, anyone?

Purchase POLYSTRENE clear plastic test tubes with caps. Fill with candies, gourmet coffee beans, sunflower seeds, etc. (I found my test tubes on Ebay for a great price.) Tie a ribbon or twine around each and set in a pretty mug or basket. Let your guests know to each take one (or two) on their way home. :)

Make a CD Cover Collage!

The colorful graphics in this DIY collage are brimming with different styles and colors. I cut up donated CD covers and glued them onto cardboard using a simple paste of plain white glue (dries clear) and a little hot water to thin it. Brush on a coat of water base polycrylic and let dry, then frame.
The frame cost me $2 WITH the glass, but you can make this with or without. So, this is basically a well under $5 art project. The beauty of a collage like this is they are literally one-of-a-kind. I think it looks kinda priceless. :)

A Real Sallygoodin of a Couch!

This is a retro couch that was posted for sale on Ebay a good while back. I saved the pic and the exact dimensions. My hubby and I plan to build this as soon as we can squeeze in the time. This will be way cheaper to do it ourselves than if I had managed to be top bidder and had it shipped to us. Isn't this the greatest piece?!! The rectangular clean lines of the couch and the humongous ottoman with it's pac man cutout; it's a keeper. Actually, it's a Sallygoodin thing. :)

Dryer Vent Hose Duct Lamp

http://www.ehow.com/how_4590468_dryer-vent-hose-duct-lamp.html I made this today. It's a dryer vent hose duct lamp (say it fast 4 times). My pics aren't too good, but in person this is WOW! It puts the mood in mood lighting. AND depending on where you purchase the 3 items needed to make it, (or maybe you have these already at home) the cost will vary between $5 and $10. If you want to make one, click on the link to my ehow site. If you ask me where I got the idea, I actually made one like 10 years ago, forgot about it and today the idea fell back into my noggin! :) Enjoy!

HBO's TRUE BLOOD

Anxiously waiting for the week to roll by to see what's next for Sookie & Bill...If you haven't seen it yet, better stampede on over to HBO on Sunday evenings. It's got me hooked. See, Bill is a vampire and Sookie is a waitress and I'm just dying (pardon the pun) to see what's coming up! Only 3 episodes left for this season. boohoo sob sob
