Love Oz Yellow Brick Road? - My First Giveaway is The Oz Scrapbook!
MGM's 1939 classic movie, The Wizard of Oz, based on the book by author Frank L Baum was NOT the first production by any means. Frank L Baum actually died in 1919....... twenty years before Judy Garland wore those funky ruby red slippers.
Honestly, as a young kid in the very early 60s, some of my most vivid memories is of literally almost peeing my pants with excitement when The Wizard of Oz was airing. It was always in the Fall of the year, and was shown just once yearly. My brothers and I watched it faithfully every year that I can remember (even as teens - it's true!). LOL
This is one of the easiest giveaways.....just follow me and comment. If you're already a follower (thank you!), all you would need do is leave a comment! You're done! :) Winner will be selected at midnight PST on Wednesday evening July 28th by Random.Org. and announced Thursday morning. You need not be present to win, just be sure to leave your blog address when you comment so I can contact you right away! Aloha and Good Luck!
Original Scarecrow and Tin Man in the 1902 musical comedy, The Wizard of Oz. (Not what you were expecting, huh?)
Long story short......I thought I knew my Wizard of Oz history until I happened upon this mint condition copyright 1977 Random House publication, "The Oz Scrapbook" while I was out making a thrift shop run. It's a hardback edition, 182 pages, size is 8 1/2" x 11", with oodles and oodles of fascinating illustrations and copies of original graphics you've probably never seen. (I know I was surprised......)
The inside front cover.
Frank L Baum's Oz stories contiued to be honored many years after his death. Ruth Plumly Thompson published nineteen of the Oz books.
